WELCOME to High Point’s only Independent Catholic school, Immaculate Heart of Mary. We are a Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade elementary school and part of the Piedmont Area Catholic Schools and member of the Diocese of Charlotte. Our original school campus on Montlieu Avenue was dedicated by Bishop Waters on October 26, 1947. The new Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Life and Education Center was dedicated on August 11, 2013. IHM is one of the first "LEED for Schools" certified projects in North Carolina.
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School is accredited by the State of North Carolina and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The school is under the leadership of our Pastor, our Principal, and the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Charlotte. Our school is served by an Advisory Board comprised of parents, teachers, alumni, and parishioners, and staffed by qualified and licensed teachers as well as dedicated professionals who support the faculty, students, and parents.

Special Academic Programs
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School vertically integrates its courses of study and curriculum from PK to grade 8. Our approach is to ensure a coordinated progression of student learning with the goal of preparing students to be successful in a college prep high school program. We provide Spanish language instruction PK to 8; our Mathematics program is Algebra based; the Science program is lab-based, incorporating project-based learning; ELA utilizes Daily 5 and CRAFT, incorporating a novel approach and mentor texts. In Middle School, we provide regular and accelerated learning classes for Math, Science, and Language Arts.
IHM Catholic School incorporates STREAM to enhance the relationship of humanities and science. STREAM is an acronym for science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and mathematics; however, we recognize other courses of study fit the acronym like social studies, reading, music, media, research, English, and Spanish. STREAM is implemented through design thinking and process-based learning. An understanding and deep appreciation of problem-solving strategies, reasoning, and innovation are equally, if not more important than achieving results.

AfterSchool Care
The School offers both Before and After school care. Morning care begins at 6:45 am; students are monitored in the media center with access to materials and games. At the end of the day, students can attend the afterschool program which is designed to accommodate different age groups. Students receive a nutritious snack, access to homework assistance, learning and engaging activities, and play time. Afterschool runs from 3:20 to 6:00 pm.
