About The School
Children will be able to pick up meals Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Southwest Guilford Middle School. Any children ages 0 to 18 will pick up their lunch for the day and breakfast for the following morning.
First opening its doors August 24, 1992, Southwest Guilford Middle School is a part of the Southwest community. With a current enrollment of 1220 students, SWMS is the largest middle school in GCS.
At SWMS, we strive to maintain high expectations as we provide a rigorous, relevant, and rich curriculum for our students. Our goal is to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our students.

Special Academic Programs
SWMS implements a common instructional framework that incorporates rigorous, relevant, real-world content designed to develop student leaders. At SWMS, we strive to develop and prepare our scholars for success in a global society. Encased within a strong total school community, SWMS allows all students to develop a sense of social, personal, and community awareness. Our goal is to teach skill sets needed for making an impact in local and global communities. At SWMS, leaders are developed.
Career & Technical Education (CTE) Opportunities
Career Technical Education (CTE) at SWMS provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. CTE prepares these learners for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies and makes academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context. The following courses are offered at SWMS for students to fully engage a hands-on curriculum with opportunities to participate in service-learning projects.
